How to Install Cabinet-type Gas Control Point?

The following steps should be observed when install cabinet-type gas control point:

1.The regulator box should be hanged or mounted on the ground. To sling or put down the 
regulator box should be carefully when install it and can not make it incline and inversion.

2.It should be installed according to the direction of gas flow of regulator and opposite direction is
 forbidden. The flange should be parallel and can not force it in place.

3.The airtight test should be done after finishing installation to ensure the leakproofness of the 
connections of inlet and outlet.

4.To do airtight test for the regulator boxs outlet, test pressure should be 1.1 times as movement
 pressure of safety device of avoiding the outlet pressure is too high.

5. The installation of regulator box should meet the requirements of Code for Design of City Gas
 Engineering (GB50028-2006).

What is Cabinet-type Gas Control Point?

Cabinet-type gas control point have other names, such as gas pressure regulator box, 
gas pressure regulator cabinet, or cabinet gas control plant, gas pressure regulating station,
 etc. It was divided into two types, floor-type cabinet and wall-mounted type cabinet. 
No matter witch one, it should take care when install it.

Cabinet type gas control point is a procedure in the gas distribution and transmission

Where Can We Find Gas Pressure Regulators(Governor)?

Pressure regulator are used for our daily life and industrial applications. Specialty gas regulator applications are divided into two types.

The first is when the regulator is fastened to a gas cylinder using a Compressed Gas Association (CGA) fitting (or BS or DIN). For example, pressure regulators are used in gas grills to regulate propane pressure, in home furnaces to regulate natural gas, in medical/dental equipment regulate oxygen and anesthesia gases, in pneumatic automation systems to regulate compressed air, in engines to regulate fuel pressure, and in fuel cells to regulate hydrogen.

The second application is when a regulator is located in a gas line - providing a means to further reduce the line pressure. A line regulator is identified by having the inlet and outlet opposite of each other, and by a single gauge which is in the 12 o'clock position to indicate the reduced pressure. How to Chose a Proper Gas Pressure Regulator (Governor)?

Many factors should be considered when choosing a proper gas pressure regulator(gas controller).

From the angle of gas type:

1.General Gas Use. For general use, regulators of brass construction with elastomeric diaphragms will give good service in noncorrosive service where slight contamination or diffusion from an elastomeric diaphragm is not important. Brass regulators with stainless steel diaphragms prevent air diffusion and adsorption of gases on the diaphragm. This is particularly important with low concentration mixtures of hydrocarbons in which the trace component may be adsorbed on the elastomeric diaphragm.
The gas regulator must be constructed using materials suited to the application. Industrial general purpose regulators are often constructed with either Buna-N or Neoprene diaphragms. Regulators with Buna-N or Neoprene diaphragms are not suitable for GC analysis that can be affected by the diffusion of atmospheric oxygen through the elastomer diaphragm or the outgassing of monomers and dimers from the elastomer. In fact, laboratories that perform temperature programmed analysis are faced with excessive baseline drift and large unresolved peaks due to this diffusion and outgassing.

 High-Purity Gas Service. 
The ideal construction for high-purity gas service is a gas regulator that has a stainless steel diaphragm. Such regulators are not contaminating and assure satisfactory use for all applications of noncorrosive and mildly corrosive gases. Regulators for corrosive gases must be selected from those recommended with each gas listing.

A gas regulator equipped with a stainless steel diaphragm has several advantages over the elastomeric type. It does not outgas organic materials and it also prevents the diffusion of atmospheric oxygen into the carrier gas. Both Buna-N and Neoprene diaphragms are permeable to oxygen. The chemical potential of oxygen between the carrier gas and the atmosphere provides sufficient driving force for oxygen to intrude the carrier gas through a permeable diaphragm.

Instructions

Locate the main natural gas pressure regulator (governor). The outside regulator before the meter is owned by the gas utility and must not be touched. There may also be regulators attached to individual appliances but these are usually not adjustable. The regulator to be adjusted is located close to the entry point of the gas mains into the house and after the gas meter. This regulator is owned by the homeowner and he is responsible for it.

Shut off the gas. Attach the pressure gauge to the outlet tap of the regulator. Turn on the gas and read the pressure. Switch on various appliances and appliance combinations and read the pressure for each one. The pressure should remain constant. If it varies for certain appliances or combination of appliances, adjusting the pressure may solve the problem.

Pull off the regulator cap. There is a spring and an adjusting screw underneath. Usually turning the screw clockwise increases outlet pressure but the direction of adjustment is marked on the regulator. Turn the screw a little to make a small pressure increase adjustment as seen on the pressure gauge. The gas pressure is only slightly above atmospheric pressure so small adjustments have a large effect. Recreate the appliance configurations which had the greatest pressure variations and see if there is an improvement. Make further adjustments as necessary to obtain a fairly constant pressure. Switch off the gas. Remove the pressure gauge and switch the gas back on. Replace the protective cap.

Note: All the adjustment should be on the base of the gas pressure regulator is 
in the good conditions, the gas pressure regulator should be inspected if the spring and the valve body was rusted or corroded by moisture before adjustment.

What Causes a Natural Gas Regulator to Fail?

Locking Up by Improper Valve Closure
The expert investigation and testing group Intertek gives an example of how improper valve closure caused a building explosion. During their investigation of the explosion, they discovered the regulators had gone into lock-up when the wrong set of shut-off gas valves had been closed. This had happened when exterminators, planning to fumigate the building by tenting, closed off the meter valves of apartment units, downstream in flow from the regulators, rather than the main valve, upstream in flow.The back pressure caused the regulators to lock up, blowing out their diaphragms. When the diaphragms blew out, natural gas leaked unabated into the tented building. Sparks from fans where suspected as the ignition source. 
Lack of Maintenance

Why do we use Natural Gas Regulator?



Natural gas become more and more important in our daily life or in industry, this kind of clean energy was advocated in most of countries of the world. So how to solve the utility of the natural gas was in a
important position now and the natural gas regulator is necessary in the uses of natural gas.

1. Pressure Reduction

Two tasks should be complished in the utility of natural gas regulator relating to how natural gas is delivered to your home. The first task is pressure reduction. The gas utility company delivers natural gas to homes through a vast network of pressurized pipes that travel great distances between gas collection sites and the cities and towns that consume the gas. The utility company pressurizes the gas lines to push the fuel through it's network of pipes to reach your home. The spring valve pushes against the opposing pressure in the line and allows the valve to open only enough to pressurize the downstream house side to what is needed.

2. Pressure Regulation

The second task of a natural gas regulator is to normalize the gas pressure entering the home. Gas delivery piping outside the home is not only frequently delivered at a higher pressure than needed, the pressure may also fluctuate. Furthermore, as different appliances are used in the home, gas pressure in the house piping to the appliances could vary and/or diminish completely if it weren't for the gas regulator. A natural gas regulator normalizes the gas pressure by sensing the gas pressure downstream of the regulator and adjusting it's spring valve accordingly to deliver a constant flow of gas. The regulator accomplishes this by a mechanical connection between it's spring valve and a diaphragm chamber that is filled with gas from the outlet (downstream) side. As the downstream side pressure decreases, the diaphragm pushes the spring valve to allow more gas from the inlet side in to normalize the pressure.

3. Atmospheric Pressure and Venting


A natural gas regulator works by sensing downstream pressure in the piping and registering it with a diaphragm that is balanced against outside atmospheric pressure. As mentioned previously, the diaphragm is connected to a spring valve that regulates the amount of gas passing through the valve and thus the amount of gas pressure in the home. The relationship to atmospheric pressure is important, because this is what allows the regulator to sense the downstream pressure. In the event that downstream pressure exceeds a preset level, the regulator maintains constant pressure by allowing excess gas to escape through the diaphragm mechanism. Since atmospheric pressure depends on what elevation above sea level your home is located, a natural gas regulator typically is adjusted by the gas company so that it is tuned to the local atmospheric pressure and inlet gas pressure so that it can successfully regulate the gas pressure in your home.
